Access Corrections™ MP3 and Media Program Reaches Over One Million Downloads

In just over a year, the Access Corrections MP3 and Media Program has reached the one million downloads milestone! Since launching in April 2009, the program has been implemented in six state-wide Departments of Corrections, including Michigan, Alaska, Idaho, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Ohio. More than 140,000 inmates are now using the MP3 and Media service.

With any handheld technology, improving the user experience is always important. That’s why Access Corrections has made numerous enhancements to its MP3 player and program. The player and our exclusive music kiosk technology now feature our second generation software, which has a proven track record of safely delivering music and other content to the corrections industry. Inmates can perform 99 percent of all functions directly through the MP3 player, minimizing kiosk interaction to an average of two-and-a-half minutes.

Time savings is just one benefit of the Access Corrections MP3 and Media Program. The need for fewer kiosks is another. Because the unit was designed to accommodate as many as four users at one time, most facilities need only one or two kiosks, depending on movement. Access Corrections™ Introduces New Technology, Access Secure Intake™

Access Corrections™ was created to host all of Keefe Group’s technology service offerings in early 2009. Access Secure Intake™ is the latest addition, joining the popular inmate deposit, email, MP3, and pod kiosk lines.

Access Secure Intake™ is a booking kiosk designed to collect money from new inmates in a secure fashion with minimal officer interaction. It relies on a virtual cash drawer that is directly associated with the kiosk and therefore cannot be manipulated. The drawer is closed every time the kiosk is emptied and a new drawer is immediately opened for continual use.

By eliminating the need for officers to count incoming cash and coins, Access Secure Intake™ not only reduces facility workload and the costs associated with the intake process, but eliminates the possibility of human error.
